90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

I often wonder do any of these people genuinely like one another. I know there a select few, but every episode it seems like these people are at odds. There is more sex, lies and delusion at play than the Lifetime Movie Network. The only difference is no one is killing anyone. This episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After left me even more questions and suspicions than before.

Nerves run high the day of Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi’s wedding. Colt Johnson reveals all his secrets to Jess Caroline.  Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa attend couples’ therapy.  Larissa Dos Santos Lima develops an unlikely friendship. Elizabeth Potthast Castravet discovers Andrei Castravet was hiding the truth from her too. Let’s get straight into the 90 Day Fiance Happily Ever After recap!

Kalani (Orange County, CA) and Asuelu (Samoa)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Kalani and Asuelu have been home for only a week since their trip from hell visiting his family. Rather than to continue to avoid all of their marital issues, they have decided to try therapy instead. When she broaches the subject with Asuelu, he agrees to see a therapist as long as they aren’t white. He would prefer a Samoan therapist who understands his culture and language. I doubt they will find many options who meet those requirements in Utah.  But at least he is open to the idea of getting the help they desperately need.

Yes! It’s finally time for that much needed therapy session. Although Kalani wasn’t able to find a Samoan therapist, she did make sure there was a translator. Apparently, Asuelu feels like Kalani crossed the line by speaking to his family without him. He had already taken her side against them, so he didn’t understand why she went behind his back and made things worse. The truth is they both come from two different cultures and viewpoints on gender roles, so their relationship isn’t always going to be easy. I believe they made some progress from therapy.  They were even able to have communicate effectively afterwards. Asuelu wants Kalani to try and rebuild a relationship with his family. She agrees, but it’s obvious she is hesitant.  She needs to understand no matter how dysfunctional his family may be, it’s still his family. Of course, he would want to remain close to them, despite their issues. Barriers just need to be established.

Colt (Las Vegas, Nevada) & his mom Debbie ex-wife Larissa (Brazil)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Colt finally confesses to cheating and housing his “friend” Vanessa Guerra.  After hearing the news, Jess is unusually calm after discovering his web of lies. By calm, I mean she was only yelling and crying, rather than hitting him upside the head with a shoe. Debbie Johnson is awakened by all the shouting and comes down to be nosy deescalate the situation. Jess tries to appeal to Debbie as a woman to get her to understand her point. Although she understands why Jess is upset, she isn’t go to go against her big baby boy. Colt gives what appears to be an insincere apology, before watching Jess walk out of the door. Sigh! Does Colt think everyone is stupid, but him? There is a reason he didn’t fight for that relationship. I suspect he only invited her so that he could manipulate her into breaking up with him on camera.  He had already been cozying up to Vanessa, well before Jess came to Las Vegas. I’m sure Vanessa was waiting on the stairwell in the dark to make things went as they planned. SMH…What some people won’t do for “fame.”

In a shocking twist, Jess and Larissa meet to talk. Jess vents to her that she believes Colt only used her to make Larissa jealous. After comparing some details they realize Vanessa was slithering around during both of their relationships. Larissa is surprisingly charming and even encourages Jess to move on to bigger and better things. Amen, sister! I still don’t see why anyone would want to date the Michelin Man aka Colt. Those women did hard time engaging in a sexual relationship with him. At least Larissa got something out of the deal. But, I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Jess.

Angela (Hazlehurst, Georgia) and Michael (Nigeria)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Angela made a complete fool of herself and Michael at their joint bachelor party, but the crazy doesn’t stop there.  She has the nerve to claim he should respect her, as she respects him. Umm, am I missing something? If Michael were to treat Angela the same, he would be screaming and throwing cakes in her face. I can’t stand the way this country bumpkin abuses this man. If she was uncomfortable with the women dancing at the club, she should have requested to leave immediately. Instead she stayed, got drunk and then used any excuse to go insane. Whew, the insecurity! I hope Michael realizes things will only get worse after they get married and he moves to the U.S.

It’s the day of the wedding! If the way Angela looks when she wakes up is any indication of the outcome, it’s not going to go well. The reality of absence of her family is beginning to hit her hard. Her nerves are so bad she is snapping on everyone in close proximity, including her best friend. Meanwhile, Michael’s friends give him one last chance to change his mind about the wedding. Sadly, he still wants to tie the knot. Angela smokes a cigarette and has one last moment of panic before heading down the aisle. She vents to the camera all of negative possibilities that could happen after the wedding. “What if we don’t get the spousal visa approval? What if Michael can’t ever come to America? Or what if he gets to the States and he doesn’t like living with my grand kids, my mom, my daughter? My only question is when is Michael going to wake up?

Elizabeth (Tampa, FL) & Andrei (Moldova)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Everyone gets together the day before the wedding to make last minute arrangements. Andrei doesn’t realize this is also a set up to prod more information out of him. Elizabeth’s family reveals what they learned from his friend, Marcel. Shockingly, he actually begrudgingly admits that he was forced out of the country, after the corrupt police force tried to frame him. Honestly, I don’t know why he didn’t just admit that from the beginning. He only caused more issues by hiding something that could be easily explained. In fact, Elizabeth is shocked this is the first time she is hearing about this part of his past.

Elizabeth is still reeling after learning Andrei had to flee Moldova. She demands answers, before she will agree to marry him for the second time. Per usual, he doesn’t feel that he needs to explain himself to anyone. Reluctantly, he confesses that because he refused to comply with corrupt orders, he feared for his life and decided to leave the country. I’m surprised he is even able to be in the country talking about this. He may want to slow down on talking about matters like this on national television. He claims that he was able to settle things after left, so now everything is fine. Elizabeth is satisfied with his admission and believes that he is being honest. I don’t know… something still feels fishy. I don’t know of many people who “feared” for their lives who would speak openly about it on national television, especially when it involves people in authority.

Tania (Colchester, Connecticut) and Syngin (South Africa)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Tania Maduro apologizes to Syngin Colchester’s family after her emotional outburst about her husband’s lack of direction. His parents advise them to end things if they are arguing more than loving one another.  Tania manages to make even more people in Syngin’s life give her the side eye. While meeting Syngin’s friends she goes on and on about how many red flags she saw, before they got married. His friends, much like me are wondering why she married him, if he was so flawed. Syngin feeling empowered, finally stands up to Tania. He reminds her that he accepts her unconditionally, yet he doesn’t get that in return from her. I understand she wants him to take their future more seriously, but that just may not happen. He is a laid back, easy going guy.  He is never going to be a structured 9-5 type person. Maybe he can refine some of his ways, but he isn’t going to become a totally different person overnight.

Paul (Louisville, Kentucky) & Karine (Brazil)

90 Day Fiancé Happily Ever After Recap: Hot Tempers and Cold Feet

Paul Staehle decides to show Karine Staehle some of the things America has to offer. For some reason, he thought the best way to do that was to take her to a water sewage plant. He only manages to make Karine feel like he is insulting Brazil. All the girl wants is for you to find a job, Paul!  I don’t understand why there is nothing he can find to do to generate income. He is on television for goodness sake, you would think that would make him more marketable.  Hell, create a line of mosquito nets or sell something online, just find some type of job. To make Karine happy, Paul finally just offers to take her back to Brazil temporarily. This is the first time I have seen her smile in several episodes.

TELL US: WHY DO YOU THINK COLT REALLY INVITED JESS TO COME TO LAS VEGAS? DO YOU THINK ANDREI HAS REVEALED ALL OF HIS SECRETS? DO YOU THINK KARINE WILL WANT TO STAY IN BRAZIL? WILL THERAPY HELP TO REBUILD KALANI AND ASUELU’S MARRIAGE? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE 90 DAY FIANCE HAPPILY EVER AFTER SEASON SO FAR?
