Andre Mayon Releases Breathtaking Single “Love At First Sight”

Music, News

When you work with greatness, your own game elevates. Just ask singer/songwriter, Andre Mayon. The artist behind “Love At First Sight” breaks into the indie scene with an unembellished tune that runs circles in the listener’s mind. Mayon, who’s cousin is famed music video director Hype Williams, utilized his time in the music industry trenches to shape his own unique sound. “Love At First Sight” is a hit at first listen.

Born and raised in Naperville, Ill., Mayon gravitated towards music while in college. He became a go-to guy for beats and a popular DJ for various special events. Once he combined forces with Williams, a music director known for his ‘fish eye lens’ work and a visionary behind many Kanye West music videos, as well as the iconic Missy Elliot “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” video, Mayon soaked up all the experience he could and positioned himself to create his own art. His entrepreneur spirt and artistic vision includes his own video production endeavors. What can’t be understated is Mayon’s unmistakable ‘it factor’ he holds so closely in his voice.

Let me tell you everything/everything/ about how to treat a woman, sings the crooner. Sounding like the lead tenor leaving the church choir having a frank conversation with some of pop R&B’s most talented singers, Mayon’s voice is the sultan of seduction. One listen and it’s over, ladies. His voice is that powerful, sexy and oozing with charm. He’s not sleezy like Tim Meadows’ Ladies Man character, Leon. His words are profound and unfeigned. When he sings low, the brooding acoustic guitar motions towards more glimmer, a lighter tone. Before everything else, he motions, the emotional delivery is subdued but genuine all-the-same.

Female listeners will want to reach out and touch the sensitivity, the heartfelt passion. The choice to have just a guitar in the music bed recalls the work of Babyface, and Prince to a certain degree, but the off-the-cuff guitar work could easily be from the guy playing for quarters on the corner (by the way, some of the best musicians are buskers). A female vocalist works her way into the song, singing as if she were in a conversation. The addition adds yet another layer of yarn to an already well-woven, kaleidoscope of imagery. The synergy between their voices is intriguing and on each listen, a new discovery unfolds.

Mayon harnessed the power and talents he encountered during his years working in some of music’s biggest music videos. He’s no copycat. One can’t just jump in to the studio and create a song like “Love At First Sight” without natural talent, and Mayon more than proves to listeners he’s capable of churning out a hit song. Just as music videos tattoo an image or visual representation to a song, Mayon’s lingering voice and artistic connection is equally vital. Mayon’s song is an explosion of bright yellows, burning reds and cooling guitar cobalt blues. “Love At First Sight” solidifies this multimedia specialist’s artistic stamp in yet another medium.
