Maya Vander teases drama on Season 3 of ‘Selling Sunset’

Reality TV

Maya Vander may not physically be at the office much these days, but the real estate agent is still feeling the dramatics that come with working for the Oppenheim Group.

Vander teased to Page Six that the upcoming season of “Selling Sunset” is filled with everything from fights between friends to weddings and divorces. But the most contentious relationships may be happening in the office. Jason Oppenheim, one of the Oppenheim Group founders, told Page Six in a recent interview that his brother, Brett, left the brokerage to form his own company, Oppenheim Real Estate.

And while cameras won’t capture Brett’s departure, Season 3 will show how the dynamics in the office have begun to shift — especially between Jason and his ex-girlfriend and colleague Mary Fitzgerald.

“Jason gets busy and he has a lot of clients that, you know, it’s hard to handle a lot of them. So I feel like he does dedicate some of them, maybe a little bit towards Mary, a little bit,” she said, before quickly adding, But to be fair, I’m also not there full-time anymore. So I can’t expect — I can’t expect him to give me any business when I’m not physically in the office.”

While the brokerage is based in West Hollywood, Vander, 32, is currently living in Miami with her husband and two children, Aiden, 1, and Elle, 2 months. Fans saw the mom of two go back and forth between the coasts throughout the first two seasons of the Netflix series.

Vander lived in Los Angeles for 15 years and was with the Oppenheim Group for three years before “Selling Sunset” was picked up — at the same time her husband was offered a job in Miami.

“‘Million Dollar listing’ is a very successful reality show with real estate and I know it really helped them to promote their business … so that was the reason that I joined ‘Selling Sunset,’” she explained, noting that real estate — not television — was her career.

She added, “I technically moved back [to Los Angeles] to film the show … and it’s been challenging. First season I was flying every weekend back and forth. I was pregnant with my first baby and that was doable. Second season, I really lived in LA for a couple of months and my husband was doing the back and forth. Now I had second baby and I’m in Miami, I’m quarantined here. And I’m going to focus more on real estate in Miami and, you know, maybe discussing opportunities which you might see in Season 3. I don’t know if they’re going to show it or not, possibly even doing Oppenheim Group in Miami.”

While the brokerage hasn’t expanded just yet, Vander hopes that it will in the future.

“I think there is a market for it in Miami,” she said. “That would be great for me to be associated with such a luxurious brand in Miami, in Florida. But, you know, it’s just an idea for now. And we’ll see how it goes.”

Season 3 of “Selling Sunset” premieres on Netflix on Aug. 7.
