Kylie Minogue will release “Say Something”, the new single from her eagerly anticipated 2020 album, later this week, according to reports.

There are rumblings of thunder in the distance. The air is heavy with anticipation. Why?

Because Kylie Minogue is gearing up to release a new song.

The Australian singer-songwriter and queen of our hearts is reportedly set to release a new disco-inspired track called “Say Something” this Thursday (July 23), The Sun reports.

So while we might not find ourselves “Spinning Around” to the song on a dance floor anytime soon thanks to COVID-19, we can at least sing along in our bedrooms and imagine the disco pulsing around us.

The new Kylie Minogue song will ‘spread joy’.

“‘Say Something’ is upbeat and summery,” an unnamed industry insider told The Sun of the new Kylie Minogue song.

“It’s been a grim few months for everyone so Kylie feels like now is the perfect time to put it out and spread some joy.”

The song will be the lead single from Kylie’s upcoming fifteenth studio album, which is expected to be released later this year, and comes just over two years after the release of her chart-topping, country-inspired record Golden.

“From what I’ve heard of it so far, the new record is set to be a disco classic,” the insider added.

“It’s everything you want from a Kylie album. Fans are going to love it.

“She has been working on her new music for a while now but everything has really come together in the last few months.

From what I’ve heard of it so far, the new record is set to be a disco classic.

The news comes less than two months after Kylie told PA that she had set up a home recording studio in her living room during the COVID-19 pandemic so she could continue work on the 2020 album.

Kylie’s new album of ‘grown up disco’ is slated for release in 2020.

“It’s been a steep learning curve for all the team as there are technical obstacles to navigate but I’m so thankful to be able to continue work on my album in this way,” she said.

“I’ve been riding the emotional wave along with the rest of the world, but creativity has to be a bit help.”

She previously told GQ that the new album will be released simply as Kylie and will be drenched in “grown-up disco”.

“It’s difficult for me to explain,” she said, “but even grown-ups need some pure pop fun.”

She added: “There’s a lot of early 2000s love around at the moment.

“Both feel like good times for me, so I’m channelling that into this record.

“The songs that are pure escapism have even stronger purpose.”
