How to Beat The Immoral Beast in Catherine: Full Body (Boss Guide)

Movies

It’s hard to argue against Catherine: Full Body being the greatest psycho-sexual comedy-horror puzzle-platformer relationship-sim hybrid game. It’s probably the only one. Created by the same studio behind the Persona seriesCatherine: Full Body is a similarly bold twist on generic staples with multiple endings and a quirky affect. This is no kids game, though, and will be great to play on the Nintendo Switch (so long as your Joy-Con is working).

Throughout the game, players will control Vincent Brooks, a bumbling man in his early 30s torn between committing to his long-term partner and pursuing a much younger woman with whom he had an affair. During the daytime, Vincent will have to negotiate his way through various dates, illicit phone messages, and hanging out at his favorite bar. By night, though, he enters a nightmarish world where cheating men have been turned into sheep and must climb through increasingly dastardly puzzles or else be horribly killed. These nightmare stages might be horrible for Vincent, but they’re fun for the player. The bosses are especially creative, perhaps none more so than the Immoral Beast. This guide will explain how to get passed this grotesque challenge.

Players will encounter the Immoral Beast at the end of the third night, when Vincent finds himself having to climb through the Torture Chamber stages. These stages introduce a new kind of block that shoots up spikes. There are tons of these in the boss stage, which makes escaping the Immoral Beast even more difficult. With proper timing, though, the player can run across the spiked blocks without getting skewered. Vincent can also hang off the edge of these blocks to avoid impalement as he makes his way up. Following the standard strategies that Vincent’s sheep pals teach him along the way will be enough to get up the tower—there is nothing too complicated here—but the player will need to be wary of the Immoral beast’s attacks.

The Immoral Beast will occasionally lash out with its wicked long tongue, but so long as Vincent keeps moving up the tower, he’ll be fine. The only other thing to look out for is when the Immoral Beast spits hearts into the air. If the hearts fall and hit Vincent, he will go into a state of confusion that causes directional movement to flip. Pushing the stick left will make him go right, pushing the stick up will make him go down, and vice versa. Avoid the falling hearts when you can, but also note that Vincent gets a few invincibility-frames if he is running through them as they hit the blocks.

Use the undo function when necessary (to get out of a mistake or to undo the reversed controls) and always keep moving up. Vincent will get out of there eventually, but the jury will still be out on whether he has learned from his mistake.
