ABC Not Moving Forward With Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s ‘Dracula’ Series “The Brides”

Horror

Earlier this year, ABC ordered up a pilot for “The Brides” from “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, centered on the Brides of Dracula. Gina Torres (“Hannibal”) was set to star in the potential series as one of the brides, with Goran Višnjić (“Timeless”) playing Dracula. ABC, however, is not moving forward with the project.

Deadline reports today that ABC has officially passed on Berlanti Productions’ “The Brides,” but that the series (from Warner Bros TV) is expected to be shopped elsewhere.

“The Brides” was being described as “a sexy, contemporary reimagining of the Dracula saga as a family drama with a trio of powerful, diverse female leads.”

“With strong horror elements, a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy—and their non-traditional family.”
