More ‘Resident Evil 8’ Leaks Suggest Occultism, a Flashlight Mechanic And More

Horror

Biohazard Declassified are back again with a fresh helping of rumours for the still-unannounced Resident Evil 8. As always, none of these have been confirmed, so take it all with a few salt shakers. Nonetheless, many of these rumours do coincide with the other rumours that have been floating around.

For starters, Occultism is a big part in the game. Similar to Resident Evil 4 (which is rumoured to be in the remake machine), we have a cult that worships the creatures created from a new virus. Going with the previously-rumoured hallucinations being a factor in the game, the virus has permeated throughout the air, causing these hallucinations.

The main antagonist is someone called Alan R., a count living in a castle near the village where the game takes place. Longtime series antagonist Alex Wesker is also lurking in the background. The game will feature a village environment, along with a castle, caves and a in general a larger focus on outdoor settings.

As previously reported, Resident Evil VII‘s Ethan makes a return, and will be joined by a new playable character named Emily, who is a village resident looking for her father. A new game mechanic is the flashlight, which will offset the game’s dark lighting and settings. As expected, it can run out of batteries, but slowly recharges by itself over time.

This next rumour ventures into SPOILER territory, so if you haven’t played RE7, steer clear. Mia and Ethan have a child. Due to the infection in Resident Evil VII, the child is deformed. They live in solitude in an attempt to hide their child. However, Chris Redfield breaks into Ethan’s house, kills the child, and ultimately Mia, too.

As for the enemies, the werewolf-like enemies leaked earlier are back, while according to the leak, other enemies include something pale and human-like. Dogs, wolves and creatures that resemble lickers also appear. The general appearance of the enemies matches up in theme with the earlier leaks by Twitter user Dusk Golem.

Additional information received by Biohazard Declassified wasn’t revealed, due to it being “unheard” by their sources, and if true, “give away a lot of main plot points”. Regardless, if what they’ve said before is true, then we might very well hear about RE8 in the near future, given its rumoured 2021 release.
