Small Screen Salander: Amazon Developing “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” TV Series

Horror

In the wake of the movies directed by Niels Arden Oplev, David Fincher and Fede Alvarez, Stieg Larsson’s Lisbeth Salander is now headed to the small screen, Variety reports tonight.

Amazon is developing a series centered on the fan favorite character, the site reports, which is currently titled (no big surprise here) “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”

The series, Variety explains, “will not be a sequel or continuation of the story from the books or the films into which they were adapted. It will instead take Salander and place her in today’s world with a wholly new setting, new characters, and a new story.”

Actors that have thus far played Lisbeth Salander on screen include Noomi Rapace, Rooney Mara, and most recently Claire Foy in 2018’s reboot The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Amazon Studios is producing in association with Sony Pictures Television.
