New ‘DOOM Eternal’ Update Introduces Empowered Demons And More

Horror

While we wait for DOOM Eternal‘s upcoming first DLC, Bethesda has given fans a treat with the recent update to the first-person shooter. New single-player content has been added, along with several tweaks to single- and multiplayer.

First off are the empowered demons. Now, when a demon kills you, it’s powered up and transported to someone else’s game. If that player is able to avenge you, not only do they get a shower of health and ammo, but they receive bonus XP for in-game events. If you toggle the option on via the menus, you’ll also get to fight the powered-up demons yourself.

A new prestige system has been added to your Doom level. Once you hit Doom level 250, you’ll earn an Echelon insignia, and reset your level back to one. There are also new quality of life and balance changes coming, including single-player campaign changes and balance tweaks for Battlemode. You can check out the changes in more detail via the official site.

DOOM Eternal is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with a Nintendo Switch port coming soon.
