Twilight Zone Season 2 Trailer Reveals June Release Date

CBS’ The Twilight Zone season 2 trailer reveals an early June release date. Premiering on CBS All Access in April 2019, The Twilight Zone is an anthology series that’s based on the original 1959 show created by Rod Serling. The reboot was developed by Simon Kinberg and Marco Ramirez, along with John Peele, who served as the anthology’s narrator and appeared as himself in the meta season 1 finale “Blurry Man.” The first season, consisting of 10 episodes, tackled modern societal problems and enduring struggles with a sci-fi twist.

The Twilight Zone reboot was renewed for its sophomore outing less than a month after premiering. Now, CBS All Access has released a trailer for season 2 of the anthology. Along with the requisite frightening and creepy moments, in addition to a tour of the actors that will be appearing in individual episodes, the trailer reveals that all episodes of The Twilight Zone season 2 will be made available to stream on June 25. This is in contrast to how the first season released episodes on a weekly basis. Watch the trailer below.

Planning to continue its method of socially conscious storytelling with more introspective installments, the cast of The Twilight Zone season 2 includes Billy Porter, Chris Meloni, Damon Wayans Jr., Daniel Sunjata, Ethan Embry, Gillian Jacobs, Gretchen Mol, Jenna Elfman, Jimmi Simpson, Joel McHale, Jurnee Smollett, Morena Baccarin, Paula Newsome, Thomas Lennon, Tony Hale, Topher Grace, and others. Peele, who is of course the mastermind behind Get Out and Us, will write the episode “Downtime.”

The first season of the anthology earned mixed reviews. Some installments, such as “A Traveler” earned praise, but the reaction was muted overall. Part of the response results from comparisons to the original, but other criticisms simply found that the show’s attempts at social consciousness overwhelmed narrative priorities rather than working in tandem. Others found that the episodes were overly long, a complaint that has also been lodged against Hulu’s Into the Dark anthology, though those are meant to be movie-length. With all episodes of The Twilight Zone season 2 dropping at once, audiences and analysts will likely be able to assess the totality of the reboot more seamlessly.
