‘DOOM’ Meets ‘Crypt of The Necrodancer’ in ‘Bullets Per Minute’

Horror

We’ve said it many times before, but the DOOM series has always had awesome music. And while Awe Interactive’s upcoming Bullets Per Minute doesn’t appear to share the same driving metal soundtrack as DOOM, there’s plenty of monsters and demons for you to mow down. If you can find the rhythm, that is.

In Bullets Per Minute, a “rhythm-action FPS roguelike” inspired by retro shooters of the 90s, you must make your way through randomly-generated dungeons, all to the beat of the soundtrack. You’ll play as one of five different Valkyries, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, wielding an array of weapons with different beat-based firing and reloading characteristics.

At the moment, it’s not clear how keeping to the rhythm plays into the game. Whether you gain extra damage by maintaining the beat is unclear. What is clear, however, is that you’ve got seven bosses to face off against, each with their own specific weaknesses that you’ll have to discover and exploit.

Currently, Bullets Per Minute is set for an August 2020 release on Steam.
