Mario Lopez takes break from quarantine sex to reboot Menudo boy band

Reality TV

Mario Lopez is taking a break from his busy quarantine sex life to relaunch the legendary Latin boy band Menudo.

The “Saved by the Bell” star and “Access Hollywood” host, 46, will executive produce a hourlong reality show looking for the next version of the iconic band. Think “The X Factor” meets “Making the Band.”

The reality show, not yet attached to a network, will be named after Menudo, which was formed in 1977 and disbanded in 2009.

Over the course of its run, Menudo made 35 albums that sold 60 million copies, and gave rise to some of Latin pop’s biggest stars, including Ricky Martin, 48, who was a member of the band (when he was between the ages of 12 and 17) before he began living “La Vida Loca.”

There’s no word yet on whether original band members such as Martin might be involved in the new reality show.

“I grew up as a huge fan of Menudo, and I’m thrilled to be a part of bringing this iconic band back to the world,” Lopez told Variety in a statement.

“Menudo” does not yet have a premiere date. Lopez will next return to his role of A.C. Slater on the “Saved by the Bell” revival coming to the NBC streaming service Peacock, which launches July 15.

Meanwhile, he’s balancing producing content with his family man duties with wife Courtney Laine Mazza, 37, on lockdown.

“I will be very surprised if I don’t get another baby coming out of this,” Lopez joked to Page Six earlier this week. “We keep busy in that department — but we also keep busy with the kids,” Gia, 9, Dominic, 6, and Santino, 9 months.
