As we reported earlier this year, Dario Argento is getting set to begin production on a brand new Giallo film titled Occhiali Neri (aka Black Glasses), with daughter/frequent collaborator Asia Argento on board to star. Black Glasses will be the Italian horror master’s first film since 2012’s Dracula 3D, and it sounds like the score will be provided by Daft Punk!
In a chat with the Italian website Repubblica, translated and brought to our attention by The Film Stage, Argento just revealed that he’s working with the electronic duo as we speak.
“They are my admirers, they know all my cinema,” Argento said. “They heard from French friends that I was shooting a new film and called me [to say], ‘We want to work with you.’”
The first tracks will be sent in to Argento soon, and he’s hoping to begin filming Black Glasses sometime later this year. Whenever productions, of course, are able to resume.
“It will be my return to crime films,” Argento also told Repubblica, teasing the plot. He added, “It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child.”
Daft Punk have not scored a film since 2010’s Tron: Legacy.
