Mick Gordon Hid ‘DOOM II’ Cover Art in ‘DOOM Eternal’ Soundtrack

Horror

Despite its issues, Mick Gordon’s soundtrack to DOOM Eternal is still very much the adrenaline-pumping affair that fans needed. And apparently, he’s vowed to fix the soundtrack himself. On top of that, much like he did with DOOM 2016‘s soundtrack, Gordon hid a little something in the files.

Discovered by a Reddit user, in the spectrogram for the track “Welcome Home Great Slayer”, Gordon once again placed a hidden image: The cover art for DOOM II. This actually looks creepier than the original coloured art, to be fair. No one has found any backmasked phrases yet, but there might be more goodies like this out there.

Whether or not Gordon comes back for a sequel/expansion to DOOM Eternal (because let’s face it: Bethesda knows it’d be stupid to let DOOM slide into dormancy) remains to be seen, but at least we’ve got some cool Easter eggs to relish. DOOM Eternal is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
