Paramount and Entertainment One are teaming up to tell another round of Scary Stories.
Last year’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark made over $100 million worldwide, and we’ve learned tonight that director André Øvredal will be behind the camera for a sequel.
THR reports that Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman are also returning to write the script, with Guillermo del Toro (who produced the first film) set to write the story.
“It is unclear whether [del Toro] will be back in his previous role of producer,” THR notes.
The first film adapted horror tales from Alvin Schwartz’s three Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books, bringing Stephen Gammell’s terrifying illustrations to life for the first time.
Presumably, the sequel will be pulling from other tales in those books.
