There are so far 21 different wands to find, craft, and collect. Though they all look different and require different materials, they perform the same function. Players can register outfits in each wand from clothing in storage or in their character’s pockets. Using the wand allows them to transform their clothing on the fly without returning home. They are also another fun collectible, as several can only be found with certain villagers or during certain times of year. Here’s where to find and craft them all.

Getting the First Wand in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Celeste Explains Star Wands in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To begin the searching and crafting process for magic wands, players should find and talk to Celeste the owl. She will first appear in town when the museum has been built. If a player misses her on that night, there are still other chances. She is usually available on nights during a meteor shower. Celeste will give the player a recipe to craft a Star Wand.

Players should collect the necessary materials to craft the wand. All wands require star fragments. Star fragments can only be found by wishing on shooting stars on meteor shower nights. Players can wish on several stars at a time to stock up on Star fragments. The fragments will not immediately appear in a player’s inventory, however; they appear on the beach the following day, so the player must remember to go pick them up.

Whenever a player talks to Celeste the night of a meteor shower, she will give the player a random DIY recipe that requires star fragments. While all wands require Star fragments, they are not the only craftable objects that do. There is no guarantee exactly when a player will get a wand recipe from Celeste, so they should check back any time there is a meteor shower.

To obtain the rest of the needed materials, players will need to use Nook Miles and take Mystery Tours to other islands or perform other collection tasks. These are always random, so it may take a player several tries to get all the necessary materials for each wand.

How to Find and Craft All Wands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

According to the Animal Crossing Fandom wiki, there are currently 21 varieties of wand to collect. Most of the wands are craftable using DIY recipes. Players can find these the same way they find other DIY recipes, either in bottles washed up on the beach or using a slingshot to shoot balloons carrying presents. These are entirely random, so players should check back often to find the DIY recipes for each wand. Several DIY recipes are season-specific as well.

Tree Branch Wand

The Tree Branch Wand recipe can be found in bottles or floating gifts. This wand requires 5 Tree Branches and 3 Star fragments. Star fragments appear after the player wishes on shooting stars during a meteor shower. Tree Branches come from shaking trees on a player’s island or from other deserted islands on Mystery Tours.

Star Wand

The Star Wand recipe comes directly from Celeste the first time a player speaks with her. This wand requires one Large Star fragment and 3 Star fragments. Both can be obtained from wishes on shooting stars. They appear on the shore the next day.

Iron Wand

The Iron Wand recipe comes from talking to Celeste. The recipe requires 3 iron nuggets and 3 Star fragments. Players can find Iron nuggets in several ways. First, they can break rocks on their island. Each rock delivers materials at random and can be hit 8 times. They can also dig two holes behind their character as the character stands in front of a rock. This allows the player to hit the rock 8 times without being knocked backward by the force. They can also break rocks after eating Fruit to immediately break a rock rather than just hitting one.

Players can also find Iron nuggets on Mystery Tours, where rocks spawn Iron nuggets far more frequently than rocks on the home island. It is also possible to obtain Iron nuggets from floating presents, though this is more random than the other methods.

Golden Wand

The Golden Wand recipe, like the Iron Wand recipe, comes from talking to Celeste during a meteor shower. The Golden Wand requires 2 Gold nuggets and 3 Star fragments. Gold nuggets are more difficult to find, as they are a rare drop from rocks on the home island. Players can find Gold nuggets by hitting rocks up to 8 times or breaking them after eating Fruits, just as they would with Iron nuggets. There is a better chance of finding Gold nuggets while on a Mystery Tour, however, as all deserted islands have more rocks.

Bamboo Wand

The Bamboo Wand recipe comes from bottles on the beach or floating presents, but only during the Spring season. Players typically find it the day or so after first talking with Celeste. This wand requires 6 young Spring Bamboo and 3 Star fragments. Players can find Bamboo on Mystery Tours, which sometimes take them to a Bamboo forest. Hitting a Bamboo Tree will sometimes spawn Young Spring Bamboo in addition to more common Bamboo Pieces.

Players can also get Bamboo Shoots by digging atop the star icon that appears on the ground beside some Bamboo Trees or after spending a lot of money on turnips from Daisy Mae. These shoots can be planted on the player’s home island so they have Bamboo Trees without needing to use Nook Miles. Young Spring Bamboo only spawns in the spring, however, whether the player has a Bamboo Tree on their home island or not.

Cherry Blossom Wand

The Cherry Blossom Wand recipe comes from floating presents during the Cherry Blossom Festival. It requires 3 Cherry Blossom petals and 3 Star fragments. Cherry Blossom petals fall from certain trees and from the sky during the Cherry Blossom Festival. They can either be picked up or caught with a net.

Shell Wand

The Shell Wand recipe can only be found in bottles or floating presents during the Summer season. It takes 3 Summer Shells and 3 Star fragments to craft. Summer Shells are found on the beach during the summer and usually spawn over time, so players should keep an eye out for them while fishing or performing other beachfront tasks.

Mushroom Wand

The Mushroom Wand recipe can only be found in the Fall season. There is no information yet available on how many Mushrooms and Star fragments a player will need, nor where they can find the recipe. This will likely come out closer to the season (likely around Fall in the southern hemisphere). Mushrooms are usually picked or dug up from below trees.

Ice Wand

The Ice Wand recipe is only available in the Winter. Players can only find the recipe from Snowboy. The recipe calls for one Large Snowflake and 3 Star fragments. When made perfectly, Snowboy gives a Large Snowflake to a player once each day before he melts.

Fish Wand

The Fish Wand is one of the few wands that cannot be crafted from a DIY recipe. Instead, the wand can only be found during the Fishing Tourney as a prize from C.J.

Bug Wand

Players also cannot craft a Bug Wand. Instead, players can get this wand from Flick during the Bug Off event.

Bunny Day Wand

The Bunny Day Wand can be crafted, but players can only get the DIY recipe from Zipper during the Bunny Day events. Zipper will also only give the player this wand recipe after they have crafted every other Bunny Day recipe. The wand requires one Wobbling Zipper Toy and 3 Star fragments.

Lily Wand

The Lily Wand can be crafted, and the DIY recipe comes from Celeste. The wand requires one White Lily and 3 Star fragments. Lilies can be found in Flower Bags from Nook’s Cranny. Players can plant the seeds or bulbs to cultivate the flowers on their home islands. There is a chance a player’s island will not have Lily seeds available for purchase. In this case, players can travel to other islands and buy or find Lily there. If Lilies are native to a player’s home island, they can craft a Ladder to find them atop cliffs.

Hyacinth Wand

The Hyacinth Wand recipe comes from Celeste. To make the wand, players need one Red Hyacinth and 3 Star fragments. Red Hyacinth, like other flowers, can be found already native to a player’s home island on clifftops, purchased as seeds from Nook’s Cranny Flower Bags, or purchased from other islands. Seeds purchased from Nook’s Cranny are always random, so players may have to try a few times to get the right flower and color combination.

Rose Wand

The Rose Wand recipe comes from Celeste and requires one Red Rose and 3 Star fragments. Roses, like other flowers, can either be found directly on a player’s island or can be purchased in Flower Bags from Nook’s Cranny and planted. They can also be purchased from other islands.

Windflower Wand

The Windflower Wand recipe comes from Celeste on the night of a meteor shower. It requires one Orange Windflower and 3 Star fragments. Windflowers can be found directly on a player’s island on the clifftop and cultivated using a ladder. They can also be purchased as bulbs or seeds from Nook’s Cranny and planted on the island. If the player’s home island does not have Windflowers, they can find or purchase them on other islands or ask a friend for help.

Tulip Wand

The Tulip Wand DIY recipe comes from Celeste on the night of a meteor shower. It requires one Red Tulip and 3 Star fragments to craft. Tulips can be found directly on a player’s home island, purchased as seeds or bulbs in a Flower Bag from Nook’s Cranny and planted, or found and purchased on other islands.

Mum Wand

The Mum Wand DIY recipe comes from Celeste. To craft the Mum Wand, players need one Yellow Mum and 3 Star fragments. Yellow Mums are found like other flowers. They can be picked at the top of cliffs on a player’s home island from the start of the game, purchased as seeds and bulbs in Nook’s Cranny random Flower Bags and planted, or purchased or picked on other islands, either from visiting friends or taking a Mystery Tour.

Pansy Wand

The Pansy Wand DIY recipe comes from Celeste. It requires one Yellow Pansy and 3 Star fragments. Yellow Pansies can be picked at the top of cliffs on a player’s home island from the start of the game, purchased as seeds and bulbs in Nook’s Cranny random Flower Bags and planted, or purchased or picked on other islands, either from visiting friends or taking a Mystery Tour.

Cosmos Wand

The Cosmos Wand recipe comes from Celeste as well. It requires one White Cosmos and 3 Star fragments. Cosmos flowers come from the player’s home island, either on the clifftops or in Flower Bags from Nook’s Cranny. They can also be purchased or picked on other islands.
