In March, he played “I Think We’re Alone Now.” And, earlier this month, Armstrong covered San Francisco punk band Avengers’ “Corpus Christi.” Now, he’s performed “That Thing You Do!” in tribute to the late songwriter Adam Schlesinger. Adam Schelsinger died at the age of 52 on April 1 due to COVID-19 complications. Last week, the cast of That Thing You Do! reunited in tribute to Schlesinger.
