Graphic Novel ‘Revenge of the Living Dead’ is an Unofficial Continuation of ‘Return of the Living Dead’

The party is over, but they’re still hungry.

Based on a 1985 treatment by The Return of the Living Dead actor Don Calfa, the new graphic novel The Revenge of the Living Dead is being billed as “the unofficial continuation” of the 1985 horror-comedy. Limited to just 350 copies, the softback graphic novel features 60 full color pages and is now available for pre-order through the Cult Screenings website.

Writer Gary Smart explains, “In 2006, Don Calfa and I discussed making his treatment The Revenge of the Living Dead into a graphic novel. For five years we worked on it with the help of Christian Sellers and Craig Hutchings. We had a full printed version complete. Don took them to conventions with him and that was it. Before he died we discussed re-making our draft version but when Don was taken ill with dementia, communication got harder and harder.”

He continues, “For the past 2-years since Don’s passing, Jason Miller and I have been working on the revamped version in memory of Don. This is not a money-maker hence the low price and limited numbers. It’s a tribute to Don and his legacy.”

The Revenge of the Living Dead picks up right after the events of the movie.

Pre-order your copy today for £14.99 ($19.48) and expect it in March 2020.
