Remedy may not have walked away from the DICE awards with Game of the Year for Control, but the company has plenty to be happy about with their effort. Things are only looking better, as according to the company’s latest financials, not only has Control been a main contributor to its revenue last year, but Remedy has three other projects in development, including one unannounced.
While no specific mention of an Alan Wake game was made (yet) in regards to one of the titles, Alan Wake was surprisingly the other main contributor to Remedy’s revenue last year. The surprise comes from the fact that we haven’t had a new entry in the series for a long while, and Remedy only just regained the rights to the games last year, and was subsequently re-released on Steam.
Remedy had already announced that one of the games in development is the single-player component to Smilegate’s FPS CrossFireX, which is heading to Xbox One later this year. The other is Vanguard, Remedy’s own attempt at the games-as-a-service genre, which will combine “long-term service-based multiplayer experiences with some of Remedy’s unique game features”.
Which leaves the final game, which despite one of Remedy’s “own brands”, is being kept under wraps but is “proceeding well”. Of course, we immediately jump to it being an Alan Wake game, since one of Control’s upcoming two paid expansions appears to put Control in the same universe as Alan Wake. Not to mention that Remedy is still shopping around that television series based on the game.
But, until we get a definitive answer, we’re all left to pine for Remedy to give long-suffering fans some relief.
