Set to premiere at Berlin, Variety shares the first trailer for The Intruder (El Prófugo), described by its makers as a “psycho-sexual fantastic thriller.”
The Intruder tells the story of a woman who suffers a trauma, meets the man of her dreams, only for her life to become a nightmare.
The Intruder stars two of Argentina’s most internationally-rated actors: Erica Rivas and Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, pictured above.
“Inés works as a dubbing actress and sings in a choir in Buenos Aires. After a traumatic experience during a holiday trip, she develops a sleep disorder and starts suffering from very vivid nightmares. At work, the studio microphones pick up strange sounds coming from her body, threatening her career and her singing.
“Inés becomes paranoid as she has increasing trouble telling what is real from what is not. She begins to entertain a dangerous idea: the characters in her dreams are trying to take over her body.”
Daniel Hendler (“The Lost Embrace”) and Cecilia Roth (“Pain and Glory”) also star.
The Intruder is produced by Benjamín Domenech, Santiago Gallelli and Matías Roveda at Argentina’s Rei Cine (“Zama,” “The Accused,” “The Queen of Fear”), which has built via international co-production into one of the most important producers in Latin America.
