‘Vanderpump Rules’ fans call show fake after noticing Ariana Madix shot same scene twice

Reality TV

From one controversy to another, this season of “Vanderpump Rules” continues to come under fire.

Fans slammed the Bravo reality show as inauthentic after Tuesday night’s episode showed inconsistencies in Ariana Madix‘s hair and makeup throughout a scene she shot with Lisa Vanderpump.

“Did anyone else catch Ariana’s hair growing 3 inches over the course of her conversation with LVP?” a fan account on Instagram captioned a screenshot showing the glaring editing error. “Come on Bravo editors….you can do better!”

In the scene, Madix, 34, opened up to Vanderpump, 59, about struggling with depression. Viewers questioned the authenticity of the conversation because portions of the discussion were filmed at different times.

One viewer criticized, “Such an authentic depression convo Ariana had with LVP. Weird that she changed her hair/makeup in the middle of it tho. This show has become so overproduced and manufactured. IM BORED.”

Another fan questioned Madix on Instagram, writing, “Soooo you guys do reshoots of all your scenes or just some?! Seen a lot of people notice your hair and makeup is completely different in the scene where your talking to Lisa.”

The reality star defended the hit show in the thread, explaining the re-shoots were “pickups,” which are often used in filmmaking when an initial shot has a minor error.

“Pickups are in every season and every episode,” Madix said. “Happens when something doesn’t line up, a shot is blurry, etc. just a way to fill in the gaps. nothing about pickups makes the show inauthentic or our conversations less real.”

The “Fancy AF Cocktails” author also clarified that there is “absolutely no scripting” when filming the reality series.

“Please don’t speak on this without knowledge of how we film,” Madix said on Twitter. “This is my real life.”

Bravo did not immediately return our request for comment.
