Takashi Miike’s New Film ‘First Love’ Hitting Blu-ray and Digital Next Month

Horror

Certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, Takashi Miike‘s new film First Love (read Joe’s review) was released in theaters late last year, and now it’s headed home in just under a month.

Well Go USA will bring First Love to Digital, DVD and Blu-ray on February 11.

“When a duplicitous scheme by the low-level yakuza, Kase (Shota Sometani) goes hilariously wrong, a terminally ill boxer, Leo (Masataka Kubota), and a disturbed drug addicted call girl, Monica (Sakurako Konishi), find themselves innocently caught in the crosshairs of two warring gangs. Over the course of the increasingly ludicrous night, the two fall passionately in love, while the hail of bullets and blood fall quietly in the background. From prolific auteur Takashi Miike, this noir-tinged, violent yakuza film, is Miike at his most fun and anarchic.”

Joe Lipsett wrote in his review for us, “First Love is a deft blend of genres, including comedy, crime, and (slight) romance, and Miike’s capacity for juggling a half dozen storylines and oddball characters is a testament to his capacity as a writer and director.”
