[R.I.P.] ‘Urban Legend’ Writer and “Ugly Betty” Creator Silvio Horta

We’ve learned the incredibly sad news tonight that Emmy-winning writer and producer Silvio Horta has passed away from an apparent suicide. He was just 45 years old.

Silvio Horta is best known as the creator, executive producer and writer for the hit series “Ugly Betty,” which landed he and his team an Emmy award back in 2007.

“Ugly Betty” also won two Golden Globes that same year.

Horta got his start the decade prior by writing the 1998 slasher film Urban Legend, and he subsequently executive produced and wrote for “The Chronicle” and “Jake 2.0.”

More recently, Horta wrote the 2015 TV movie The Curse of the Fuentes Women.
