Hello Emily! So happy we could chat today. Can you walk us through your musical journey? Give us the story of where you started and what is going on now for you.
I started playing violin when I was 11 years old. I had asked my parents for lessons since I was 5, but I come from a big family so my parents wanted to make sure I was serious about playing violin before getting me lessons. I was so excited to play that my parents never had to ask me to practice. Eventually, I went to college as a music major. I did learn a lot in college for music… Theory, composition, history, etc, but I really learned how to improvise and jam with people by playing with as many bands as I could. I was a waitress at a restaurant next to an Irish pub. I used to go to the pub five to six nights a week and play with any band that would let me sit in.
Now, I have had the pleasure to play with a lot of amazing musicians and bands. Currently, I keep very busy playing with local L.A. band “Monkey Finger”, touring with a variety of different bands, recording and writing. 2020 has a lot of exciting things happening! I am working on some original music as well as some new collaborations and possible tour dates!
You have accomplished so much in your career, what big dreams are you chasing next?
I have played violin for almost 25 years and I have gotten to do so many amazing performances and collaborations in my career, but I feel like I have SO much ahead of me. I am so excited for what the future brings. I have been working on some big collaborations, but nothing I can officially announce yet. Stay tuned!
If you were given a one-minute ad slot during the Super Bowl, what would you fill it with?
That’s a tough one. Hmmm…. I would probably fill it with a one minute ad of music brining happiness to people worldwide. I know it sounds cheesy, but music really is the universal language and brings so much joy to this world!
Things have changed so much the past 10 years, tell us how do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We are in the age of major technology advances. I think in ten years we will just see more amazing platforms developed to share music. I believe we are in an age of amazing opportunity due to technology. It is exciting!
Tell us what you do best? What sets you apart from other artists?
What I do best is I play Rock N Roll on the violin! I think it is pretty unique and this is what sets me aside from other artists. I have so much passion for what I do.
If we were to ask them, what would your friends and family say they appreciate the most about you?
I think they’d say I am an honest and loving person. What you see is what you get with me. I am also a caretaker and lover so I take care of my friends and family!
