Shannon Beador Shades Kelly Dodd Over Her Fast Engagement To Rick Leventhal

Reality TV

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County. Some highlights of the season for me were getting to know Emily Simpson a little better and Gina Kirschenheiter chasing after a dramatic Tamra Judge in the finale. Plus Kelly Dodd taking no prisoners on the cast trip to Key West–and on Part 1 of the reunion. And dare I say, Vicki Gunvalson’s demotion?

Lowlights include Tamra and Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s make out session, Dr. Deb’s tough love maternal instincts and some of the Tres Amigas’ escapades. Kelly and the Amigas were at odds most of the season over everything from Shannon Beador’s Miraval retreat gonging to the ugly rumors spread about Kelly. Over-the-top retaliation by Kelly, including inserting herself in the Jim Bellino lawsuit fueled the feud. Will the Amigas and Kelly ever find their way back to each other? Shannon recently made it clear that she and Kelly are still on the outs.

Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported that Shannon threw some shade at Kelly during a recent Watch What Happens Live. A caller asked Shannon if she planned on getting engaged to her boyfriend John Janssen anytime soon. Shannon answered, “OK, I’ve never been happier. I didn’t think it was possible to be this happy. But, I mean, first of all, I don’t do that. It’s early. I’m not like Kelly Dodd.”

Well, I guess we know where Shannon stands! Kelly was engaged to reporter boyfriend Rick Leventhal in November after a whirlwind courtship. It appears the supersonic speed engagement has not met Shannon’s guidelines for acceptable behavior. At this point, I am not sure that anything Kelly could do, other than her moving out of Orange County would receive Shannon’s stamp of approval. Which is kind of sad.

One person who is obviously meeting Shannon’s approval is John. She made it clear in her statements during Part 1 of the reunion that the couple is in a good place.

“If I were to put everything about someone on a list that I was looking for, he has all of it,” Shannon stated. “From being a great dad; he’s so good to my kids. We share the same faith. And he has three kids and they all spend at least two to three days a week together, all the kids.”

On Shannon’s Instagram, she has many pictures of not only John, but of the two families hanging out together, looking happy. Quite a switch from her years of misery and her ugly divorce from ex David Beador.

Shannon added, “And I know it sounds crazy ’cause it’s like six months, but I don’t know, we all feel this comfort together and I don’t know, I just feel like there’s more of a peace about me.” As “Shannon” and “peace” are two words that don’t often go together, the relationship has obviously been a positive force for her.

“I don’t want to say that [we’ll get married], but we talk about the future and we’ve made a lot of plans into the future,” Shannon went on to say.

Good for Shannon. She was in a dark place for so long, it is great to see her happy. Who knows what the future holds–maybe even a wedding. If Shannon speeds things along in her romance and makes up with Kelly, maybe she, Kelly and Vicki can have a triple wedding, with Tamra doing extra duty as everyone’s loyal maid of honor.
