London rapper J Hus has said he didn’t want to offend anyone with his tweet declaring “stop forcing LGBT onto us” and has said he wants to learn.

J Hus had been facing anger after attacking people for “forcing LGBT”.

The controversial ‘Did You See’ rapper hit out at LGBT+ people in a Twitter rant on Monday.

His original tweet has now been deleted and the 23-year-old, real name Momodou Lamin Jallow, now says he was wrong and wants to learn.

“Okay maybe I’m wrong then. Forgive me. I don’t wanna offend anyone. From my point I saw things different. You can school me,” he tweeted on 23 December.

After considerable backlash, J Hus tweeted his followers thanking them for explaining why his original tweet was offensive.

‘Teach me more, I wanna learn,” he said. “Yeah I see all the tweets. The culture I practise, we’re not familiar with these things that’s why I have a different view. I don’t hate anyone but I stand up for my culture. Don’t take no offence. Live your life happily.”

His original tweet read: “STOP FORCING LGBT ONTO US.

“Live your life I don’t care but don’t force it onto me especially when you don’t wanna recognise these black struggle.”

He added: “Fuck this world. We have to make our own world.”

The tweet was like more than 3,900 times before being deleted.

The comment had ignited an immediate backlash from queer people of colour.

Out rapper MNEK wrote: “Ok so are you saying that LGBT people are exclusively white? That there’s no such thing as intersectionality?

“That fans of your music who are both black and LGBT, myself included, don’t understand black struggle either? I just want to be clear.”

The rapper has had a troubled legal history, serving multiple stints in prison for carrying a knife and violent disorder.

He was dropped from the lineups of the TRNSMT and Wireless festivals in 2018 after he was again arrested for carrying a knife in public at London’s Westfield Stratford shopping centre.

J Hus, who is signed to Sony Music’s Black Butter Records label, was most recently jailed in June 2018 and sentenced to eight months behind bars, being released in April 2019.
