I think it’s so cool that 40 years later filmmakers are still inspired by Ridley Scott’s Alien. On that note, William Eubank, who directed the awesome sci-fi film The Signal, is back next year with 20th Century Fox’s Underwater (watch the trailer), a deep sea creature feature starring Kristen Stewart.
In the film, a crew of underwater researchers must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. After digging, “something” has awakened.
From the set design to the look of the characters, all of the footage has screamed Alien. Now, Bloody Disgusting has unearthed a bunch of images that look straight out of the Nostromo, with Stewart acting as Underwater‘s very own Ripley (more so from David Fincher’s Alien3).
Underwater swims into theaters on January 10, 2020 and we can’t wait.
