Luann de Lesseps Says Leah McSweeney Is A “Great” Addition To RHONY & Is “Not Afraid”

Real Housewives of New York fans have had to accept that Season 12 is going to be very different than last season. Bethenny Frankel, one of the “OG” Housewives, left RHONY abruptly before filming for Season 12 began. But don’t worry, people. Luann de Lesseps isn’t singing sad songs about Bethenny leaving.

It turns out that Luann is pleased that Bethenny left, so that Bethenny would stop hogging all the attention. Of course she is! Now we can even more time devoted to cabaret and Luann’s glitzy life as a star of the stage.

The burning question of who would claim an apple and join the New York ladies was answered recently. Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported that business mogul Leah McSweeney was officially named a Housewife at BravoCon. So, what do we know about Leah?

Leah won a lawsuit against the NYPD after she sued them for alleged police brutality. She then started a clothing line called Married to the Mob. Leah is the co-host of a podcast called Improper Etiquette and writes a monthly column for Penthouse Magazine. She sounds like an interesting addition to the cast.

Luann is excited about being the center of attention the upcoming season, and Leah is one of the reasons why. In an interview with HollywoodLife, Luann spoke highly of the RHONY newbie. “She’s great, she’s downtown and she’s not afraid. She gets in there, and it’s not an easy group to come into,” Luann shared. “I think she holds her own, and at the same time she’s vulnerable.”

The Cabaret Countess once again mentioned how much better things are now that Bethenny has left the show. “It’s such a great season,” Luann stated. “We all get to show ourselves and have more time to talk about our own life and our own stories, and it’s not always about Bethenny [now].” Oh, Luann. You made last season all about you. And cabaret. And your sobriety.

Luann feels that Leah will strike a chord with RHONY fans. Luann said, “I think people are really going to connect to her. She’s a young girl and she has a daughter.”

And according to Luann, Season 12 will not disappoint. “Obviously, there’s always drama,” Luann remarked. “When you have that many women together there’s bound to be drama.” She added that “there’s shifts in alliances” during the new season.

We all know the reception that newbies get on Housewives shows. I think that Ramona Singer is really going to get into it with Leah. Apparently, Leah has already gotten into a squabble with Luann and Tinsley Mortimer at an event that Luann headlined called STOMP Out Bullying. Wow. Just…wow.

I guess we will see how Leah meshes with her fellow New York Housewives when the show returns in early 2020. I am eagerly waiting to find out how many cabarets shows Leah will be forced to attend invited to attend.
