HBO Max has already gone shopping for Christmas of 2020.
The new WarnerMedia streaming service has bought a planned reality dating show called “12 Dates of Christmas,” which would air next year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the unscripted series is set at a “picturesque Christmas castle, where single people will step into a real-life romantic comedy filled with cozy sweaters, fireside cuddles and mistletoe kisses.”
The cast of singles will also “take part in holiday staples like ice skating, sleigh rides and hot toddies” and tackle “the twists and turns of a TV dating show. The singles will eventually choose someone to take home for the holidays with the hope of a perfect Christmas ending.”
HBO Max launches in May. The new banner of the once- upscale cable channel already also has another dozen or so unscripted shows planned, including an Ellen DeGeneres-produced version of the UK series “First Dates Hotel.”
