Can you believe it has been 20 years since Big Daddy? The comedy is a classic among Adam Sandler’s filmography and was released at the height of the actor’s big-screen success, smack dab in between The Waterboy and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love. The movie starred Sandler as Sonny Koufax, a lazy law school grad who adopts a young kid to impress an old girlfriend. And that kid was Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse, sharing the role with his twin brother Dylan.
Evidently Adam Sandler doesn’t think another Big Daddy is a good idea. From the sound of his response, he makes it seem as if I’d be some form of torture for the now 27-year-old actor. The actor likes to joke, but either way, he wouldn’t really be a “big daddy” anymore. What would a sequel even be like? At the end of the comedy, Sprouse’s character reunites with his real father (played by Jon Stewart) and Sandler’s character has a kid of his own with the woman he spent the movie attempting to win back.
And as Adam Sandler notes about his co-star, Cole Sprouse is “doing fine”. He stars as Jughead in CW’s Riverdale, which is currently in its fourth season. As for his brother Dylan, he hasn’t pursued acting to quite the same degree in recent years.
After the twins shared roles in Big Daddy and as Ross’ son Ben in Friends, they found popularity on two Disney Channel shows, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Suite Life On Deck. Cole also recently starred in the romance Five Feet Apart earlier this year. Check out what Cole Sprouse looks like now, via his Instagram:
On the night of the reunion between the Big Daddy actors, Adam Sandler was celebrating the release of a special entry to his career. The Safdie Brothers’ Uncut Gems is providing the actor with plenty of praise and buzz that could earn him an Oscar nomination. The thriller has Sandler playing a diamond dealer and gambling addict in New York who goes down a anxiety-fueled rabbit hole.
Uncut Gems currently has a 92% “Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes, his second highest rated movie he’s ever made on the site. The movie follows Safdie Brothers’ work on Good Time, which brought Robert Pattinson some major attention. Sandler’s new movie hits theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
