Jurassic World 3 Gets a Working Title, What Secret Is It Hiding?

Movies

We have some details regarding Jurassic World 3 as production gears up for a 2020 shoot. First off, we’ve learned that the movie’s working title will be Arcadia, which may or may not tell us a thing or two about the sequel. It’s additionally been revealed that the production will be shooting in Vancouver, Canada, which joins a growing list of confirmed locations for the Universal Pictures blockbuster.

According to a new report, the latest entry in the Jurassic Park franchise will be filming under the title Arcadia. That’s not the official title. Rather, a working title that is used as something of a placeholder during production. Sometimes these titles provide clues about what’s to come. More often than not, they’re mostly nonsense that can help disguise the real title during filming. Jurassic World, for what it’s worth, used the working title Ebb Tide, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom filmed under Ancient Futures. For those looking for possible hints about Jurassic World 3, Arcadia either refers to “a mountainous region of ancient Greece, traditionally known for the contented pastoral innocence of its people.” Or, “any real or imaginary place offering peace and simplicity.” Arcadia is also a city in Los Anegels County that is home to the Santa Anita Park racetrack, as well as the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Read into that what you will.

Moving on to the filming locations, it’s also been revealed that the production will be heading to Vancouver, Canada for at least part of the shoot. Vancouver has become a very popular location for filming in recent years, so this isn’t too surprising. It was also previously confirmed that the movie will film at Pinewood Studios in London. Perhaps most shocking, Jurassic World 3 is expected to shoot some scenes in Hawaii. Historically, Hawaii has served as the real-life location of Isla Nublar, the fictional island that housed John Hammond’s dinosaur theme park. As viewers may recall, Isla Nublar was wiped off the map by a massive volcanic eruption in Fallen Kingdom, so that is an intriguing detail. In a recent Jurassic World 3 prequel Motion Comic, we saw that the mosasaur had attacked a surf competition in Hawaii. Maybe we’ll see some of this play out for real?

Plot details are largely being kept under wraps for the time being. We know for sure that the sequel will be dealing with dinosaurs in the world living side-by-side with humans. This was explored a bit in the recently released live-action short Battle at Big Rock, which takes place after the events of Fallen Kingdom. Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World, is returning to the director’s chair for this installment. J.A. Bayona helmed Fallen Kingdom. Trevorrow is also co-writing the screenplay alongside Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising).

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles as Owen and Claire, respectively. The big hook, so far, is that Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern will all be back as Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler for the first time together since the original Jurassic Park. Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise have also boarded the cast in unspecified roles. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as any further details on the project are made available. Jurassic World 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2021. This news comes to us via Production Weekly.
