Kathy Bates Chimes In On Lizzy Caplan as Annie Wilkes

Horror

There have been a plethora of remakes in the world of cinema be it in another film or a transition to a television show, but usually, you get people being critical about the other’s performance. One case in point is the seeming back and forth between Leatherface’s after the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out in the early 2000s.

This isn’t the story of one of those instances though.

The Stephen King adaptation MISERY starring James Caan and Kathy Bates really helped strap a rocket to the back of the former and lift her career into the stratosphere. We wouldn’t have her now-iconic roles in the many seasons of American Horror Story if it wasn’t for that fateful turn as Annie Wilkes in MISERY.

Cut to now, and Castle Rock is taking the world by storm. The second season of the Stephen King and JJ Abrams anthology series is streaming on Hulu and has introduced a rather familiar face.

Annie Wilkes has come to the town of Castle Rock but this time she is portrayed by Lizzy Caplan. Playing a seemingly younger version.

When Bates was asked about Caplan’s performance, she had this to say;

“Lizzy Caplan hits it out of the park. She IS Annie Wilkes. Terrifying and human. Sometimes she makes me feel all oogie!”

What do you think? Do you agree with Kathy Bates or do you have a totally different thought on Lizzy Caplan’s portrayal of the classic King character? Let us know in the comments below!
