Jurassic World: Evolution DLC Trailer Returns to the Original Jurassic Park

Jurassic World: Evolution is ready to welcome you to Jurassic Park. Frontier Developments has announced the latest DLC for the theme-park building video game, which is essentially akin to Roller Coaster Tycoon, only with dinosaurs in it. While the main game is firmly rooted in the more recent movies, the latest addition coming to the game will take place in 1993 just after the events of Steven Spielberg’s original classic.

Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park takes place following the events of Jurassic Park and is set in 1993. The DLC features new park designs, dinosaurs and characters from the original movie. This includes fan-favorites like Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm. Jeff Goldblum had previously provided voiceover for the main game and was utilized as a character, but Alan and Ellie are new. Per Frontier, here’s what to expect from this latest bit of DLC.

“In the game, players will be able to go back to Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna to rebuild beloved locations on the islands. With seven new story missions featuring characters voiced by the original cast, including Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), players will be challenged to repair and restore the destroyed park and open its iconic gates to the public. The pack will feature Jurassic Park-inspired attractions including the classic Main Gates and Jurassic Park Tour, as well as legacy skin variants, such as the 1993 Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor and more.”

The game studio also released a brief trailer previewing the content, which is downright lousy with nostalgic imagery from Jurassic Park. We see the iconic gates, the original Jeeps, the dinosaurs looking much like we first came to know them and more. This optional DLC could help turn Jurassic World: Evolution into the video game many fans hoped it would be when it was first released last year.

Even though the Jurassic franchise has existed for the better part of three decades now, there haven’t been that many great, or even memorable (at least not for the right reasons) games based on the series. Jurassic World: Evolution didn’t hit it out of the park for everyone, but it did give players the ability to experience the thrill, and chaos, associated with building an amusement park filled with dinosaurs. It’s probably the closest we’ve come to a truly great JP video game. This will bring it just a touch closer, one would hope.

The company, additionally, will soon release another free update, which will include some fixes and new features. Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on December 10. Sorry for those holding out hope the game will be ported to the Nintendo Switch. The DLC will retail for $19.99. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself. The news comes to us directly from Frontier Developments.
