We’ve learned the sad news today (via THR) that actress Virginia Leith, best known to horror fans as the star of The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, has passed away at the age of 94.
The actress played Jan Compton in the 1962 horror film, a woman decapitated in a car accident. A mad doctor takes her head home and revives it, intent on giving Jan a new body.
Virginia Leith’s first film role was in 1953’s Fear and Desire, also the feature debut of Stanley Kubrick. She also starred in films such as Black Widow, White Feather, Violent Saturday, On the Threshold of Space and A Kiss Before Dying, and appeared in the TV shows “One Step Beyond,” “Moment of Fear,” “Great Ghost Tales,” “Starsky and Hutch” and “The White Shadow.”
Leith passed away at her home in Palm Springs on November 4th.
