Angel Has Fallen Featurette Goes Behind the Action for the Digital Release [Exclusive]

Movies

Angel Has Fallen continues the action-filled saga of Mike Banning. Today, we have a special look at this explosive new entry in the series, which finds Gerard Butler looking back at some of the grueling action scenes he took part in. The movie is on Digital starting today, November 12.

Director Ric Roman Waugh really put Gerard Butler through the paces while shooting Angel is Fallen, and asked that his leading man be present for some of the huge fireballs and rapid gunfire that filled the set. Gerard Butler has this to say about shooting some of the intense action scenes with a dedicated director like Ric Roman Waugh, just as the Angel Has Fallen Blu-ray and DVD prepare for their release this thanksgiving.

“With Ric, he always wants to put you right in the middle of it. There is not a single thing that happens where he goes, ‘You’re not in this shot’. It’s like that in everything. And it’s incredible how that sucks an audience in. It sucks me in as well.”

Our exclusive video shows Ric Roman Waugh orchestrating some pretty big explosions on set, working in a forest area with real stuntmen gathered around the roaring fire balls. We also see some of the lake attack, with Morgan Freeman having to get very wet for the scene. One of the team behind Angel has Fallen speaks out and says this.

“When Waugh is blowing up a forest, you see Waugh blowing up the forest, and it puts you in the fire sequence yourself. When you’re in the middle of the lake attack, and the assassination attempt, you see Morgan Freeman in the middle of that attack. He’s thrown in the water, and diving under it and being blown up.”

Morgan Freeman arrives midway through the video to talk about his dangerous stunt work in Angel Has Fallen, which included him having to fall off a boat. He also had to do, ‘a lot of running and ducking. Machine gun blitzes and stuff.’ Overall, the iconic actor seems unfazed by a hard day at work.

In Angel has Fallen, authorities take Secret Service agent Mike Banning into custody for the failed assassination attempt of U.S. President Allan Trumbull. After escaping from his captors, Banning must evade the FBI and his own agency to find the real threat to the president. Desperate to uncover the truth, he soon turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name and save the country from imminent danger.

Angel Has Fallen is available on Digital today, November 12 and on 4K Ultra HD&™ Combo Pack, Blu-ray&™ Combo Pack, and DVD on November 26 from Lionsgate. It was just recently announced that 3 more Fallen franchise movies are on the way, and its possible that a series of spin-off TV shows could happen, taking place in different areas around the world, with the leads from each show to appear alongside Banning in one of these upcoming sequels. There’s a lot planned for the Fallen series as we head into the future so jump in and enjoy the latest installment with an exclusive sneak peek.
