Brown is currently competing on season 28 of Dancing With the Stars. She and partner Alan Bersten shimmy and shake their way into America’s heart each week. Brown’s popularity has allowed her to enjoy an assortment of press opportunities that include appearances on RuPaul, E!’s Daily Pop, E! News, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Brown first garnered attention on the national stage as a pageant contestant in the Miss USA competition. The amber-haired beauty represented her home state of Alabama. While competing for the crown, Brown was roommates with Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Miller-Keyes later joined her as a cast member on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. From the beginning, ABC teased discord between the two ladies. Ultimately, Brown was eliminated from the competition in week seven, only to be asked to star in The Bachelorette months later. Brown’s time on The Bachelorette had its ups and downs. Viewers were shocked when she chose musician Jed Wyatt as her fiancé, instead of fan favorite Tyler Cameron. Brown further found herself embroiled in controversy when it was revealed that Wyatt had another girlfriend just prior to, and allegedly during, taping of season 15.

Fling with Tyler Cameron

After the Bachelorette finale, and her well-publicized split with Wyatt, Brown maintained a low profile. Then, on July 30, during The Bachelorette “After the Final Rose” episode, she was finally reunited with ex-boyfriend Cameron. By this time, he had attracted the attention and romantic interest of several renowned women, including social media influencer Violet Benson and supermodel Gigi Hadid. Brown’s reunion with Cameron on the follow-up program showed that the chemistry they enjoyed during their season was still there. True to her brand, Brown threw caution to the wind and asked Cameron to go out for a drink with her.

To the delight of the studio audience, Cameron accepted the invitation. Within days, the tryst further fueled Brown’s popularity when Cameron was seen leaving her home in the early morning hours of August 2, 2019. Her hair was wet and disheveled. She had on shorts and a t-shirt – a far less glamorous wardrobe than regular date-night fare. Not only that, but Cameron was clad in shorts and a t-shirt, carrying what looked like an overnight bag. Since then, Cameron has continued to show affection for his former girlfriend. According to Us Weekly, he texted Brown happy birthday well-wishes on September 24. Brown made the disclosure to the publication during an interview on October 21.

Dancing with the Stars

Hannah Brown on Dancing with the Stars

Following her stint on The Bachelorette, Brown was cast on Dancing with the stars. The official announcement was made in August 2019. Bachelor Nation was still riding high from her admission of sexual awakening in a windmill with pilot Peter Weber during the “After the Final Rose” telecast. However, her addition to the cast of Dancing with the Stars season 28 was a natural next step, since many of the Bachelor/Bachelorette participants have found a second life on the ballroom competition show. Brown was paired with pro Alan Bersten, who recently ended a relationship with Alexis Ren.

Within days of her debut on Dancing with the Stars, speculation arose over whether Brown and Bersten were an item. It’s a question that has dogged the duo each week as they contend for the Mirror Ball trophy. Brown maintains that she and her partner are just friends, despite their overwhelming chemistry and similar personality traits.

Coping

The Bachelorette's Hannah Brown: A timeline of her relationship woes post-finale

By mid-August 2019, Brown began to show the signs of strain from overexposure. The normally effusive reality star struck a different tone as she detailed the public scrutiny surrounding her choices. Her comments arrived via an Instagram post in which she wrote:

“Honest policy: I’m struggling. Life is so different. Since late August, I’ve been a pageant queen, a bachelor contestant, and the Bachelorette, I’ve been in love with multiple people, I got engaged, I broke off an engagement, and I shared it all with millions of people. My faith has been questioned by thousands who don’t know my heart, and my transparency with my decisions has labeled me promiscuous.”

However, Brown remained optimistic in the post about the strength she’s gained from her experiences, adding, “The woman who has emerged would shock the mirror-image young girl from a year ago. I have so many blessings to be thankful for. However, it’s uncharted territory for me, and it’s been really hard to process what the heck is going on.”

While some may be concerned for Brown’s well-being, she has always been honest about her battle with mental health. Throughout The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Brown spoke of her perfectionist ways, and feelings of inadequacy. Her platform in the pageant world was mental health awareness. Brown even went on record stating that she walked away from those competitions for several years because of her struggles with depression and anxiety.

What makes Hannah Brown so compelling as a public figure, and most notably on The Bachelorette, is the sheer honesty with which she held the title. Not since Trista Sutter in the first season of the series has another woman worked so hard to claim her happy ending. Brown was goofy, sentimental, blunt, crass, and even clumsy throughout her season. These traits only seemed to endear her to much of the franchise’s loyal fan base. The competing bachelors on her season responded to her personality as well. Many of them clamored for attention from her in a way that was more intense than in previous seasons. Her suitors also fought to help her when they feared she was being led astray by contestant Luke P. That’s the power of Brown’s magnetism. After Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelorette, she will surely be able to find her way back into the hearts of another audience. Of course, viewers may have to stay tuned to see if the same luck establishes roots in her romantic life.
