We have an exclusive clip from Robert Tinnell’s upcoming Feast of the Seven Fishes. The movie is based on Tinnell’s 2005 graphic novel and Italian cookbook of the same name. Shout! Factory picked up the exclusive rights to distribute the movie in North America back in August. The movie is a romantic comedy set in a rust belt town on the banks of the Monongahela River during the early days of the MTV phenomenon that takes place on the day before Christmas Eve in 1983.
Coming direct from Shout! Factory, The Feast of the Seven Fishes clip shows us exactly how important the Italian tradition of cooking is to this family. However, it seems adding some extra spices to a family recipe is against the rules. Joe Pantoliano’s Uncle Frankie is the one to add the extra spice to the fish dish and he doesn’t seem to think there’s anything wrong with it, noting that their parents would have done the same if they could have afforded the extra spice. It’s a short clip that goes into the importance of tradition while throwing a mysterious, yet comedic slant on the subject.
Feast of the Seven Fishes takes place just days before Christmas as the Oliverio family readies their Feast of the Seven Fishes, which is an Italian tradition stretching back to the old country of Calabria. Amidst the preparations, Tony Oliverio, a young man with big dreams and a bigger heart, wonders if he’ll find love this Christmas season or spend it alone with his loud and loving family- Great Grandma Nonnie, Grandpa Johnny, Great Uncles Frankie and Carmine, his parents, his brother, and a host of friends. When Sarah, the girlfriend of his cousin Angelo, introduces Tony to Beth, it looks like Tony’s holiday experience might take a turn for the better. That is unless Nonnie thinks Beth isn’t good enough for her great-grandson, and Beth’s Ivy League suitor doesn’t steal her heart first.
Written and directed by Robert Tinnell, Feast of the Seven Fishes stars Skyler Gisondo, Madison Iseman, Josh Helman, Addison Timlin, Ray Abruzzo, and Lynn Cohen, with Joe Pantoliano and Paul Ben-Victor. The movie was shot on location in Marion County and West Virginia, including the towns of Rivesville and Fairmont. The scenery is teased all over the first trailer for the romantic holiday comedy, which comes out just in time to start celebrating the upcoming holidays.
Feast of the Seven Fishes opens in select theaters on November 15th and will also be released On Demand on the same day. John Michaels, Jeffrey Tinnell, and Robert Scott Witty are producers. Executive producers are Joseph E. LoConti, Sean Thomas O’Brien, and Erick Factor. The distribution deal was negotiated by Shout!
