Star Tours Adds Sequel Trilogy Locations (Including Star Wars 9 Planet)

Movies

To celebrate the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a new destination related to the film will be added to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues at Disney Parks. The news comes days after the final trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released, marking the final marketing push ahead of the film’s official release in December.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is an interactive ride that enables guests to navigate themselves through a tour of various worlds in the Star Wars universe. Star Tours debuted in 1987, becoming the first Disney ride to feature a non-Disney licensed IP. Since then, the famous ride has gone through some major changes. The ride was revamped to throw in some prequel material and was updated yet again to feature the latest sequel trilogy installment, The Last Jedi, in 2015. Now, Star Wars fans are getting a new experience, taking guests to a surprising destination each time.

According to Disney Parks blog, Star Tours – The Adventures Continues will introduce Rise of Skywalker-inspired scenes to the Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disney Resort locations. The new Star Wars location that is being added to the ride by Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic will take passengers in the Starspeeder 1000 to the ocean moon Kef Bir. Disney has not revealed what else will be coming to the ride, but Rise of Skywalker should give us a clue. The Starspeeder 1000 will be making a stop on Kef Bir starting on Dec. 20, which premieres the same day Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters.

Star Tours is adding new locations, including from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

To celebrate the final installment in the sequel Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic have partnered with Disney Parks to add flights to Jakku, Crait and Batuu over the past few years. Earlier this year, Disneyland and Disney World opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed lands where fans get to visit an alien planet, fight alongside the resistance in an attraction called Rise of the Resistance and pilot the Millennium Falcon. Star Tours has 384 scenarios across the variety of current destinations. It’s not clear how many more will be added to the world-famous attraction.
