Arca to Soundtrack MoMA Lobby in New York City

Music, News

Arca has announced that her music will soundtrack the lobby of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. A composition she wrote using the Bronze AI engine will play for two years once the museum reopens on October 21 after four months of renovations.

The Bronze format allows artists to make what is described as “non-static, generative and augmented music.” In an Instagram post, Arca said that the AI “will never make the music play the same way twice—it’s a live transmission forever in mutation.” The company has previously worked with Jai Paul; you can listen to the Bronze version of his song “Jasmine” here.

Arca recently completed a four-night residency called “Mutant;Faith” at the Shed in New York City. Earlier this year, she was featured in the soundtrack and original score for Rockstar Games’ Red Read Redemption 2, and composed the start-up music for the reissued Sega Genesis console. Her last solo album was 2017’s Arca.
