Queer Eye heartthrob Antoni Porowski has compared his experiences of dating women to dating men and the differences are eye-opening.

The food and drink expert spoke to Glamour UK about his dating record and learning about his sexuality over time.

“I think part of me, if I’m fully honest, always knew that I was interested in guys,” he shared.

“But at the same time, I had relationships with women where I was really happy and I was actually in love with women.

“It was one of those situations where, ‘When I find the right one, I’m gonna know it’s time.’”

‘Oh, my biceps aren’t as big as his’, Queer Eye star recounts.

But Porowski also explained that he’s become self-conscious about his physique since he began dating men.

The 35-year-old said he was “most comfortable” with his body image when he “was in relationships with women, because there wasn’t a sense of comparison”, as they “were different” physically.

“It was my first relationship with a guy where I kind of looked at myself, and I was like, ‘Oh, my biceps aren’t as big as his.’

“Or, ‘My legs are longer, I wish my torso were longer.’”

The Montreal native, who spoke with the outlet to promote his cookbook Antoni in The Kitchen, admitted he has been very hard on himself about his body but believes that people “shouldn’t have to” be.

“Women and men have all kinds of societal pressures,” he continued, “sometimes they’re self-imposed and the idea of perception – whatever the hell that is!”

Porowski also spoke about the stresses he faces being an on-camera personality, and how he’s actively made decisions to change his diet as a result to minimise him feeling like “human garbage”.

“Since the show came out, I have seriously cut down on dairy,” Porowski said, “that’s changed my body a lot.

“I’m somebody who loves cheese but also when you’re on camera all the time, you see yourself at an angle and you can drive yourself crazy sometimes.”

He continued: “I have days when I wake up, feel like human garbage and eat plant-based and go to the gym twice a day.

“Then I have days where I feel really good about myself and destroy two burgers in a day with a pizza and a milkshake and maybe have a chocolate bar.

“I have two sides of me and that goes with anything.”
