Marvel’s GHOST RIDER Family is Back With a Vengeance

Movies

Fans of Ghost Rider have had different versions of the Spirit of Vengeance over the years, but as good as reboots and refreshes can be… there’s something to be said for the classics. Which is why both Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch are finally returning in a comic series of their own, beginning in October’s Ghost Rider #1.

Marvel begins their rollout of the new ongoing series with a behind-the-scenes trailer, allowing Marvel Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski, writer Ed Brisson, and Assistant Editor Chris Robinson to catch fans up on the new relaunch. Make no mistake: the cover may claim this is a first issue, but seasoned Ghost Rider fans will be brought back to their heroes exactly as they left them. Johnny Blaze reigning as the King of Hell, and his brother Danny Ketch having no interest in the duty of Ghost Rider… until now.

While Robbie Reyes has been handling the task in recent years, Marvel knows there are still unexplored corners of the Ghost Rider mythology, and questions that fans have long wished to see answered. What actually is the Spirit of Vengeance? Where does it come from? Why does it have such a strong connection to the Blaze/Kale bloodline? Those are the questions Johnny and Danny will help to answer when their brotherly love begins in Ghost Rider #1. Check out the new trailer below, along with the first plot details:

Following his shocking accession, Johnny Blaze is now the king of the underworld! What challenges does a hero face when he presides over the worst humanity — and inhumanity — has to offer? While Blaze acts as demonic warden down below, fellow Ghost Rider Danny Ketch is tasked with collecting souls above. How does Ketch cope with being forced to serve in a role he despises?

Those are all the details Marvel is offering up so far, but the return of brothers Blaze and Ketch may be enough to get older or lapsed fans back on board. It’s safe to assume that the new mythology will tie into Jason Aaron’s recent Avengers series, which revealed the first mammoth-riding Spirit of Vengeance as part of the ancient Avengers of One Million B.C.. The relaunch begins in time for Halloween, so mark your calendars for October 2nd, 2019–and prepare to burn
